Alberto Vargas

Alberto Vargas

Alberto Vargas is one of 20th century America's most famous painters.  Famed especially for his pin-up images which accompanied the troops to war around the world during WWII, Vargas was also world-known before and after that time.  During WWII, his paintings were reproduced in Esquire Magazine, but before that he had already become well known for his work with Florenz Ziegfeld of Follies fame (1920's) as well as sets designs and promotion posters done for major Hollywood studios (1920's and 1930's).  Of course, he also had a long term association with Playboy Magazine with his paintings appearing each month from 1960 to 1975.  An argument can be made that Vargas is one of America's four or five most famous painters due to the appearance of his work through the pages of widely subscribed publications.  Today, his work is collected throughout the world and original paintings have sold in the hundreds of thousands of dollars.

Shown below are two extremely rare Vargas posters that we have in inventory for immediate delivery.

Cover Girl, a fine art poster created in the 1980's.  These are extremely rare since they completely sold out many years ago.  This particular image was featured on the cover of the "Varga" catalogue raisonne.  Dimensions: 23" x 32".  Price $250 unframed.
First Love, a fine art poster created in the 1980's.  These are extremely rare since they completely sold out many years ago.  This particular image was the very first painting done by Vargas for Esquire Magazine in October of 1940.  Dimensions: 26" x 39".  Price $250 unframed.
